Dobby is an adorable 2 year old male, about 10 lbs, taken in to HRI from a puppy mill. When he first arrived, he was so frightened he wouldn’t come out of his kennel. He would simply hide. With a lot of coaxing and hard work from his foster mom, she was able to encourage him to venture out. In a short time, he has even gone outside through 2 separate doorways. He seems almost afraid of toys when he investigates (he’s never, ever seen such a thing) but his foster mom thinks he may start to play with them soon. They are too irresistible! She also noticed that he really loved running in the house with her other Havanese, and they both got so rowdy mom had to calm everyone down! The fact he wants to interact and is comfortable doing so is a great sign.
Dobby is still a little fearful of unusual places, and outside with lots of noises is one of them. Upon hearing the voices of neighbors he got so scared he ran in the bushes. His foster mom coaxed him out, wrapped him in a warm blanket, and they both cuddled for a good 20 minutes. This sweet dog craves affection and actively seeks it, and as time passes and he learns to trust humans and realizes we can be kind and gentle, he will become an amazing pet for some lucky family.
