This cute and cuddly 2 year old is Clara. As you can see from her picture she is going to be an especially beautiful girl when her hair grows in. Despite her early beginnings as a mill breeding dog, Clara has a unique calmness about her. In a short period of time, she began to trust the humans around her and has learned that playing with her foster dog brothers is fun!
Clara has recently discovered how much she likes being free and is challenging her foster family to play and chase her around the house and yard. Her foster mom says it is rewarding and fun to watch her run and play with abandon! She sometimes refuses to come in from the yard when she is called since she delights in her new found freedom. Her foster mom is coming up with ways to coax her inside without discouraging her sense of play.
Clara was a little overwhelmed with holiday company, and sometimes would hang out with her mom on the sofa and cuddle. Her foster mom had company offer her treats of chicken from their hands which she happily took and then cleaned their hands for them with a good licking!
Clara is a healthy, happy girl, and has put on some much needed weight since her arrival and has a good appetite. Her potty training has come along and she is reliable if the human remembers to take her outdoors! She takes walks on a leash very nicely and is very curious about all there is to see in the outside world. While still shy, she has maintained her calm demeanor and is not a "barky" dog. Clara comes to her foster mom for attention and loves to cuddle on the couch with her head resting on her foster mom's legs.
Her confidence has grown leaps and bounds since coming into HRI. Her forever home will need to be patient and help her continue this growth and reinforce all the good habits she has learned. She is a little shy in unfamiliar situations, but her foster mom thinks it is no more than any dog in a similar circumstance.
Clara will be a fantastic companion for a very lucky family.
Clara is being fostered in Ohio.
