Happy, fun-loving, lap-lover; these are all traits Wesley wants everyone to know he has. He also loves to cuddle and give kisses so be prepared to give him lots of lap time so he can show you! He has the temperament of a typical Havanese, following his foster mom around like a shadow. He loves cuddling on her lap and getting tummy rubs. Every once in a while he nestles closely and plants a gentle kiss on his mom’s cheek or hand. He is a very sweet dog, and everyone is his buddy; dogs, people & kids from the youngest toddler to Grandpa.
Wesley is 4 years old and weighs about 12.5 pounds. Although his previous family loved him very much, they were unable to cope with his skin issues. With care from his foster mom, his skin issues were addressed by a short haircut (in the beginning), change in diet, medicated baths and oral medication. The routine now is only a once a week bath, oral medication, and a special diet. His coat is really growing in well now. He no longer needs an extensive wardrobe to keep him warm. His coat is coming in tri-colored with rich red/tan, luscious black/silver and bright white. He is a majorly handsome boy with a wonderful personality to go with it! He loves to play with toys and chew on chewies but is very polite.
Wesley does very well on a leash. He interacts very well with his doggie pals and plays very gently with them. One of his very favorite toys is a vanilla retriever roll.
He is a calm dog but is always happy to see you and greets everyone with enthusiasm. Wesley is not a barker, although he will bark when excited. He knows what the word "quiet" means and is quick to obey when told. He is crate trained and perfectly house trained - he goes to the door and whines when he has to go outside. Other than his medicated baths and restricted diet, he is a typical Havanese in every way!
Wesley is ready for his forever home, one that will give him lots of love, attention, and lap time. His family will need to be committed at least for now to weekly baths, medication, and special diet, although as time has passed he has required less bathing and medication. Wesley has some requests for a wish list in a forever home; he’d like at least one person home most of the day because he is so social and loves attention. He’ll want a fenced yard so he can run like the wind, and although he’d love another dog to play with, he would do just fine as the only dog with his human family. He wants to be loved and have a warm lap to lie on and someone to snuggle with, offering lots of kisses. Wesley will make one lucky family a loving wonderful companion
