From Echo's parents two days before he ran to the Rainbow Bridge:
About 7-8 years ago, Shannon ran across the picture of a cute little Havanese dog in a blue bow tie. He was being fostered in Texas and was available for adoption. He’d been a puppy mill dog all his life til then. She fell in love and began the process of adopting him. She and her friend made the drive to pick him up and bring him home. I wasn’t too sure about her choice. It took him about two years and an order of McDonalds french fries to warm up to me. But he did. And he became my buddy. During football season he was my “hog dog” sporting his Razorbacks jersey and helping me call the Hogs. We’ve had the best time together with Shannon, Abby and Vance. Echo loved Christmas. He would love to have his bed right under the tree and watch the lights. About 18 months ago, “little man” started down a journey of dealing with the onset of dementia. It has been a slow progression. It is now to the point he has lost most of his eyesight, some of his hearing and is losing his dexterity. His bad days are more and worse than his good days; to the point that his good days are all but gone. We’ve consulted with his vet here and his long time vet where we used to live. It breaks our hearts but it’s reached the point that our sweet boy is ready to make his journey across the “rainbow bridge.” God bless his vet for all the years you helped care for little man. He loved you so very much. I’ll go tomorrow night and one more time, bring him some mc’ds french fries. Saturday morning, we’ll be saying farewell to our sweet lil man. We will always love you Echo. You made our lives so much richer and sweeter.

At 8:34 this morning we said farewell to our little man, Echo. He crossed the rainbow bridge peacefully. Fly high little man, fly high. Thank you all for your prayers and support. And thank you HRI for trusting us to adopt this beautiful boy. He touched our lives in immeasurable ways.
Little 'Rootin'Tootin' Echo, seven-years old and weighing 10 pounds, may be a bit shy and sweetly cautious yet curious at first, given his humble beginnings, yet he is a natural prancer....(psst....just don't tell him that there is no "Doggie World GQ" 'cause he carries himself as if to have aspirations to be on the front cover!) After all, he does have the softest fur ever!!
Mealtime calls for this little cowboy to demonstrate his own version of the Texas Two Step while waiting for his food, which he is always excited about getting (occasionally letting out a Texas 'whoop' or two to let the 'chuck wagon cookie' know that it's time to put on the giddyup & get it to him).
Echo never misses a chance to "saddle up" and go for car rides...and when it comes for bunking down (crate time), he spends some time getting his bed gear just right - adjusting his bedding until he's satisfied he can now 'bed down' for a spell.
Softest fur ever!!!....did we mention??....well, it's worth repeating! One of the rescue volunteers involved in Echo's first days w/ Havanese Rescue said that every time she thinks of this little sweet, shy little boy, she can't help but hear John Lennon's song "Beautiful Boy" in her head....his sweet, soulful eyes can touch one immediately. 
Echo's wish is to have a friendly furry playmate that is yearning for a best buddy,too. He's longing to romp & play with a playmate who has the same "Somewhere Out There" heartsong!
Little Echo awaits that special person or family who will be that "soft place to call home" and who can see that glowing, brilliant preciousness that he yearns to show (are you ready to have Echo's Texas star shine bright at your house??)
