BeckySmFaceThis precious sable peanut is so cute you just want to cuddle her forever, which is perfectly fine with her. When her owner had to relocate out of the country, HRI came to her rescue. After a quick trip to the salon for a new coif and the vet’s office for a once over, this eight-year-old, who has been deemed an angel by everyone she meets, was ready to settle into her foster-to-adopt home with her new mom and the resident Havanese princess.

Becky1Becky is 8.9 pounds and is toilet-trained, knows plenty of tricks, and, in typical Havanese fashion, loves everyone. She gets along with other dogs and lived in a home with larger canines. She is a good eater and sleeper and is crate-trained, but who could keep this charmer out of their bed? She has adjusted readily to her foster home with nary a glitch. A truly resilient and loving dog who is enjoying having someone home with her most of the time, Becky is the poster dog for the Havanese breed in each and every way.

Becky is being fostered in PA.

Becky1This past Monday, September 11, 2023 my Becky went to the Rainbow Bridge. She had been suffering with dementia for quite sometime and was getting considerably worse. The medication wasn’t working anymore. She would get me up at night and pant and pace. At times she didn’t know where she was. She used a pee pad in the house and I didn’t take her off the deck to do her business outside. When I did occasionally put her in the grass, she was very wobbly and off balance and at the end would look to me to pick her up and put her back on the deck. Becky was my HRI foster failure in 2015. I will forever be grateful to Nancy Rogers the SC who found Becky for me and Donna Rotoloni and all who transported Becky to me. Becky was 8 years old at the time. I wasn’t sure how Jammies was going to deal with Becky, but within 2 days they were friends, playing and racing through the house. Every groomer and every vet and all who saw her said she was an angel. Remember they were comparing her to Jammies! Becky was truly an angel. I really can’t remember her doing anything bad! Nothing I can say or write will do justice to Becky. She was sweet to everyone. She LOVED belly rubs and would lay in your arms like a baby for as long as you would rub her. On Monday at the vet’s office I laid her like a baby in my arms and rubbed her belly. Becky could snore louder than any sore that I ever heard! I bought extra strong earplugs just so I could sleep. On Monday, I was holding her in my arms while the vet gave her the first shot that would relax her before the final shot. As she got drowsier, she laid her little head on my shoulder and snored as loud as she ever did. I thanked her for giving me her last snore to remember. After the final shot, she was gone. Gone. My Becky was gone. As you all know the pain is intense and I know that eventually it will lessen, but right now I feel like someone punched me in the gut. Thank you HRI for trusting me with Becky. Run free with Jammies little one. Rest in Peace Becky My Angel.
