Ricco is a six year old, beautiful sable Havanese who weighs 16 lbs. He is a bit underweight and needs to gain about another pound. His favorite snacks are dehydrated sweet potatoes and, of course, bully sticks.
Ricco is a very affectionate boy. He loves treats. He will walk on his hind legs quite a distance if there is a treat at the end of the stroll. He loves walks and car rides. He is well behaved, and while he will do his best to give the ultimate puppy dog eyes for a treat, understands when told ‘no more’.
He likes to be close to his family members but is not clingy. He sleeps in his crate, near his foster family, and is fully crate trained. He is very calm, preferring to lie next to you as you read or enjoy a movie. He is the best cuddle bug, and gives a precious ‘look at how sweet I am’ look. He ‘romances’ his toys, standing in front of them, nudging them, dancing back and forth, rolling around and scratching his back for them.
Ricco does appear to have some mild allergies, which have been managed with a regular grooming schedule and quality dog food.
Ricco is comfortable with everyone. He readily greets all household members with affection. He is not fearful of men, children, or other animals. He has shown absolutely no aggression. He is very laid back and friendly. Ricco is working on manners, such as not walking up and standing directly on the chest of anyone lying down (!), and not marking in the house. He has improved greatly in both areas since being in foster care a few short weeks.
Ricco’s forever family could have young children as he loves them, and other animals. He is just a very sweet little man who wants to be loved. Ricco and Tony were raised together since puppyhood and surrendered to HRI by their owner. They are quite attached to each other and ideally they would go to their forever home together, but most likely will do fine with at least one other dog for companionship.
Ricco eased into the routine of his foster home which includes four other dogs, constant activity, and different people in and out and three active nephews who visit regularly.
Ricco is being fostered in Texas.
