Tony is a six year old, white Havanese who weighs 14.5 lbs. He is was a bit underweight when he came into foster care, but has already gained his 1 lb and a little extra, just in case.
Tony has the sweetest disposition. His eyes are a beautiful light TONY brown and his pure white coat falls in a part on his head, making him look a bit like Andy Warhol. He is a bit timid and shy. He loves affection and will gently approach with hopes that you will be ready to reach out with some affection. He will gently lift his paw, and tap or stroke you on the arm, requesting just a little pat or stroke of the head. He is very calm, mild mannered and not at all clingy or under foot. His tail tells all. He wags his tail when he is excited to the point that his entire body shakes. Tony gets most excited around food and treats. He will jump straight up into the air, bouncing as if riding a pogo stick until he gets his treat.
Tony has no medical issues. He is fully vetted, current on all vaccinations, neutered and micro chipped. He recently had a full dental exam and cleaning. He has occasionally had incidents of marking inside the home, but is learning very quickly that he is to only mark outside.
Tony takes a bit of time to warm up to strangers. While he does not act afraid, he might be the last of the pack to come for hugs or treats. He loves treats and to go for walks. He rides very well in the car and goes daily with his foster mom on short errands.
Tony’s forever home would ideally include another well-adjusted dog for companionship and play. He would be fine in a home with young children. He is fully crate trained and can often be found hanging out in his crate napping during the day.
Tony’s was surrendered to HRI by his owner along with Ricco. Both were raised together since puppyhood, and ideally would do best in a home together as they are quite attached to each other. But another dog as a companion is a must if they are adopted separately. Tony gracefully adjusted to foster care and gets along well with the other animals and children in the household.
Tony is being fostered in Texas.
