Lita's Adoptive family sent this note about lovely Lita, named by her foster mom because it means joyful, and Lita truly seemed to be a joyful dog despite the many bad breaks life sent her way.
Lita was a brave sweet adorable little girl who battled numerous obstacles in her life but brought tremendous joy, companionship and lots of love to her mom (my mom) before crossing the rainbow bridge Saturday. She loved and was loved by her cousins Merlin, Mitch (who we know was waiting for her and greeted her) today) as well as Dancer. She brought a new meaning to being brave between coming with a fractured front leg, a displaced back hip, a cataract in her right eye and poor dental condition. None of those issues stopped her from giving and receiving love
She and my mom bonded in a way that can only be described as they were each other's guardian angels and companions (Lita battled the odds with bravery and she was the rock for my mother as she has battled cancer as well).
Lita had a great last four and a half years being loved, looking out for her mom and playing with her cousins.
Thank you for bringing such a sweet adorable girl into the lives of all she touched. She will be missed but will be remembered for our life time.

Lita has seen the tough side of life, but remains a very sweet and loving dog. Estimated to be 8-10 years old, she enjoys hanging out with people or resting in a dog bed. In fact, she loves her round bed or really any other soft spot she can find. Her foster family once watched Lita pull a sofa cushion two times her weight just to sleep on top! She loves eating a few small bits of cheese when her foster mom has a snack. One of her favorites though is peanut butter! Lita weighs about 9 pounds.
She likes being outside in the grass, too, and is doing a great job with house training! Lita does very well walking on a leash and loves her walks. We think that once upon a time she had someone who cared for her and taught her some nice manners. She’s a fast learner and comes when called.
Lita is blind in her right eye with a cataract but her left eye is fine. Nothing stops herfrom doing whatever she wants to do! Update: Lita had her joint surgery and spay in late October and is doing very well, progressing and healing nicely. Lita is beginning to feel much better.
Lita is a happy dog; quick to give a wag and greet the adults she's met so far while in foster care. She gets along with other dogs and people, but her foster family isn’t sure about small children. Lita is happiest on a lap, and is the sweetest dog you can imagine. Lita will do whatever the family is doing! She loves to go on car rides and eagerly looks around whenever you stop. She wants to snuggle in bed with you whenever she can. Lita isn’t a big fan of playing with toys but her foster family has said she “loves, loves, loves” a lap or being picked up for lots of hugs.
Lita gets a little nervous with thunderstorms but calms easily. She doesn’t mind brushing and bathes easily with little fussing. Her fur seems baby fine according to her foster family. Lita will make a wonderful family member for someone lucky enough to have her. It won’t be long and she’ll be ready for her forever home.
