Macey is 3 years old, weighs about 13 pounds, and may be a Havanese/Shih Tzu mix. She was rescued from a puppy mill along with Hallie in March of 2011. Macey is white with red spots and silver tipped ears, with a sweet expression.
Macey has a playful and energetic personality. She gets along well with other dogs. She loves to play with stuffies and is often seen carrying around a flat stuffed fox or skunk.
Macey likes to be in the same room as her person and the other dogs in the household. She is more of an alpha dog and can be assertive. She will greet her person at the door, but runs from visitors. She has learned her name and walks mostly with her tail up and she is doggy door trained.
Macey has adapted well to household routines and likes to play with other dogs in the household and forms interrelationships with the other dogs in the home. She sleeps in a dog bed in the bedroom. She is becoming more affectionate with time and will give kisses. Most of all she gets excited when her person wakes up in the morning; she does a happy dance with little excited yips when her person begins to stir. She has a voice and lets it be heard!
Macey is a full participant in canine culture and she barks when other dogs bark and runs to see what is going on when the others get excited. Goals for Macey include learning to come into the garage (she goes as far as the door) and enjoy rides in the car and to allow herself to be picked up and not run 100% of the time when a human approaches her.
Macey has had some health issues, including luxating patellas and a urinary track infection with crystals in her urine so she has been on a special diet for awhile; that condition has cleared up now, but will need to be monitored in the future.
Macey is being fostered in AZ.
