sparkySpotSparky is a healthy, beautiful black and white, 18 month old Havanese who weighs 14 lbs. He is a little underweight, so he is getting a higher calorie diet in hopes of increasing his weight. Initially Sparky was very scared and timid, but within a short week he was approaching his foster parents and became less timid, especially when interacting with other dogs in the home. At the end of his second week in foster care, he is playing with toys (the squeakier the better), is greeting his foster parents at the door and playing with the other pups without any reservation. Sparky now like to have you toss his squeaky so he can fetch and bring back to you.

Sparky is crate trained, sleeping in his 'man cave' at night and sometimes during naps. He quickly learned how to manSparky TX_fulleuver the doggie door and is almost completely potty trained. He stands perfectly still while being bathed. He only jumps on furniture when invited and is very eager to please his foster parents. As time goes on, he will become even friendlier, less afraid and a wonderful addition to the right family. He loves to be petted, even occasionally turning over for a belly rub.
Sparky needs a quiet, calm family with someone who is home most of the time. He would do best in a home with no children or with older children who are able to understand and respect Sparky's tendency to become easily intimidated. Quick movements scare him, sending him running to his crate, even if just for a moment. Sparky needs a secure yard and since learning how to walk on a leash - again in such a short amount of time - he loves going for walks. Sparky would do best in a home with at least one other dog that is friendly and from whom Sparky can continue to learn how to be a happy member of a very lucky family.

Sparky TX_standingSparky’s wish list for his perfect family is:
•Someone home at least most of the day

 • Secure fence with a nice back yard

 • Children over age 13 are okay

 • Lots of squeaky toys and someone willing to play, and take him on nice long walks as well

 • A family committed in helping him to continue building his confidence

 • At least one other dog close to his size

Sparky is being fostered in Houston TX

Had to say goodbye to this little guy last night. ? We adopted Bentley at 18 months and he has been my shadow ever since. He was 13 1/2 and was just the best cuddler. I’m sure going to miss him and all his little quirks. RIP Bentley!! You were loved!! ❤️
(1st pic 2012 after being adopted. His name online was “Sparky from Texas” ?. 2nd pic was taken this last month in Texas, he was taking in the fall sunset. ❤️)
