Champ is a 12-year-old, cream-colored boy who weighs 15 pounds. He is the embodiment of the Havanese temperament. He is such a good boy! He has an affectionate and sweet nature, behaves like a gentleman, and still loves to romp and play, but he is also happy to curl up on his foster mom's lap.

Champ loves to go for walks and has good leash manners. He is crate trained, but he would love to sleep on the big bed with his family if given the opportunity.
He has silky hair and enjoys being brushed, but he is not thrilled to take a bath. Nevertheless, he does not object too much, so bath day is not a big hassle.
He enjoys playing with toys and chases a toy if you throw it. If you are busy, he happily entertains himself by tossing his toys in the air and fetching them over and over again. Champ's favorite toy is a tennis ball. His eyes light up if a ball is tossed in his direction. He gets overjoyed at mealtime and will dance for a baby carrot or other small treat. His foster parents get a kick out of watching him play like a puppy.
Champ fancies himself a watchdog, ever on the alert for the letter carrier's arrival. He also is very interested in the birds and neighborhood cats he sees while out on a walk. He does bark, but he is not very loud, having been debarked as a puppy.
Champ lived with a loving family and is healthy. His hearing is good and his vision is pretty good, although he is beginning to develop cataracts. Champ has had urinary tract infections (UTIs), which caused struvite crystals. Although he is house trained, the UTIs and crystals caused him to have urinary issues, and he has needed to wear a belly band with a Poise pad when he is in the house. The crystals appear to be gone, and he is on his regular diet again.
Champ would do best in a home with someone around most of the day and in a family with no children or with older children. He could be an only dog or would be happy to live with another sweet dog.
CHAMP is being fostered in Northern California.
